The Perfect Day Foundation

The Perfect Day Foundation exists to ensure unique Zambian memories are never forgotten, and to ensure that students, staff and visitors who've experience Zambia first-hand have a way to continue making a difference and contributing when they return home.

The mission of the foundation is to preserve and protect the health of young Zambians in deprived communities by using sporting knowledge and expertise. Striving to provide opportunities and to alleviate poverty in any way possible.

Love to see more of this foundation in other Africa countries. The mission of the foundation, passion and commitment of the people draw me more to the foundation. Also knowing how one of the founder, Dr Peter Warburton, started it in response to the challenge he got at a conference in Zambia to make impact in the country, and being able to sell the interest to others intrigue me. Likewise, the common comments from members that their lives never remain the same (in the sense of their views of life). Someone said, she loved the vibe, simplicity, happiness and music of the people, even in the so called less civilized environment. And was happy to do without her phone, to enjoy the time with the Zambian youth.

Thanks to Mel Berry, our mentor from Ingenuity lab, for introducing TDARE to the foundation.

The foundation board consists of nine alumni of the UK Sport IDEALS Project ranging from 2006-2011 and also supported by the IDEALS project founder Dr. Peter Warburton OBE, who is a tireless devotee of sport in Zambia and the current Dean of Experience at Durham University. Also works in collaboration with a group of UK Higher Education Institutions that have a shared ethos towards sport’s excellence and development. The seven Universities include Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan, Durham, Loughborough, Northumbria, St Andrews and Stirling.

In August this year, former Olympian and current head coach, Mel Marshall, will be leading a team, including Olympic Champion Adam Peaty, out to Zambia to undertake the immerse challenge: 50 hours of sport, over 5 days and different locations, with the aim of raising a minimum of #50,000. All the money raised will go to projects funded by The Perfect Day Foundation, aimed at enhancing the lives of the young Zambians, through sport.
